These two images show disk brakes on an unwind stand.  The upper one is mis-aligned, causing uneven heating.  Direct tests of the stand confirmed the problem.  The lower one is OK.   This determination was made without interrupting the process in any way!

Any thermal process or process with a thermal signature can be examined by this technology. 

This pole mounted transformer feeds half of a manufacturing facility.  As the top image shows, one phase has a hot connection, threatening the power supply.  The lower image confirms that the wires are not hot, so load imbalance is not the issue.

Had this failed, the best that would have happened would have been downtime and lost production.  The worst could have included burnout of every three phase motor in the plant!

Electrical systems should be inspected regularly!
